ESF regret to advise that the Valuing Volunteers Program, ‘Our mental health and wellbeing really matters‘ workshops, scheduled for April and May 2020, are postponed due to the current COVID-19 pandemic and government advice to cancel all indoor events of more than 100 people. We will be announcing new workshop dates and locations when the appropriate DHHS advice is given. These workshops are ideal for any volunteer working in Victoria’s emergency management sector. If you have an interest in your own mental health and wellbeing and that of your colleagues, this workshop is for you.

What is the cost?

These workshops are free of charge but places are limited and you must register.

About the workshop

This one-day workshop is presented by the Emergency Services Foundation (ESF) and OzHelp -because our mental health and wellbeing really matters!

Each workshop will provide an overview of mental health and wellbeing contextualising it for volunteers and their brigades/units.

Participants will learn:

  • To recognise the early signs of common mental health conditions
  • The role that workplace leaders and colleagues have in creating and maintaining a mentally healthy work environment
  • How to engage confidently and respectfully with colleagues about their mental health and wellbeing
  • Practical ways to nurture their own mental health and wellbeing
  • The importance of seeking help early
  • Where to get help
  • And, contribute ideas to help improve the mental health and wellbeing of volunteers across the sector
